The J. A. Dieudonné research unit and the NeuroMod Institute at Université Côte d'Azur are proud to announce the opening of a Junior Professorship Chair on
Modeling in Neurosciences and Cognition
The Junior Professorship Chair is a recent process in the French academic system, intended to be close to the "tenure track" process in the US.
see https://www.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr/fr/des-carrieres-plus-attractives-les-chaires-de-professeur-junior-46095.
In a nutshell, it means:
- reduced teaching loads
- a specific welcome package (in order to
support research activities) - an access to a full professorship position after a track of 5 years.
We wish to recruit a talented researcher who will contribute to the leadership of the site in mathematical neuroscience.
The recruited expert is expected to strengthen the participation of the mathematical community in the NeuroMod Institute.
We are particularly interested in expertises complementary to the existing activities (in stochastic modeling and PDE)
and our project would benefit greatly from the contribution in emerging fields — in their application to neuroscience —such as topology and geometry, or from an expertise in dynamical systems for neurosciences. Applications oriented to stochastic modeling, probability and statistics will be positively considered as well.
Information on the hiring process will be posted on this website regularly.
Details on the hiring process are given below. The time schedule will likely be the following:
- applications should be sent between May 19 and June 19
- the selection for an interview will be processed in July
- interviews and final ranking will be done at the beginning of September
- the professorship is supposed to start effectively before December 1st 2025.

Information about the hiring process.
To apply, you have to:
- create on account on the governmental page : https://odyssee.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr/ (you can then choose english or french)
- you receive an email in French: click on the link and select ``forgotten password'' to choose your password.
- you receive a second email, clink on the link and choose your password
- click on ``recruitment EC'', type of application: ``contract recruitment''
- find the position. It is not available yet, but it should be by the beginning of next week.
- you fill the form and then have to attach several documents:
1- Official Identity with photo (passport, etc.)
2- Diploma: a proof of your PhD degree. If it is not in French, you have to translate it in French including a ``Declaration of compliance on honour'' that you can sign yourself. Then, you merge the original file and the translation in a unique pdf file.
3- defense report. In France, the jury deliver a ``defense report'' on the day of the PhD defense. If there is no such report in the place where you have defended your PhD, you need to give a certificate from the establishment certifying that no defense report has been given. Again, if it is not in French, you have to translate it in French including a ``Declaration of compliance on honour'' that you can sign yourself. Then, you merge the original file and the translation in a unique pdf file. Similarly, if you have a defense report which is not in French, do the same with the translation.
4- Analytical presentation: It can be in English and not translated. You can put any information you want. In particular, it is the adapted file to e.g. state any supervision you did, a complete project integration to the NeuroMod Institute and the Math Lab, CV, publications list, etc.
5- Scientific works: one of them must be the application form available on the web page of the University : https://univ-cotedazur.fr/universite/travailler-a-universite-cote-d-azur/annonces-offres-d-emplois/recrutement-enseignement-et-recherche/recrutement-chaire-de-professeur-junior/eng-fiche-de-candidature-chaire-de-professeur-junior-2024-2025 It can be in English or in French. You can also add up to 5 of your scientific works (publications, etc.)
